Samburu is in Northern Kenya with special wildlife species specific to this region. Lake Nakuru is great for bird Watchers and Masai Mara for the vast array of wildlife, the Big Five and the annual wildebeest migration.
Itinerary
1 night NAIROBI – 2 nights SHABA or SAMBURU – 1 night LAKE NAKURU – 2 nights MAASAI MARA
DAY 01: NAIROBI
You are met at JKIA airport and transferred to your Nairobi accommodation on bed & breakfast.
DAY 02: NAIROBI – SHABA or SAMBURU
After an early breakfast you depart at 0800 hours for Shaba or Samburu National Reserve via the scenic pineapple countryside of Thika. After a brief stop at the Equator you proceed arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive followed by dinner & overnight at your camp/lodge.
DAY 03: SHABA or SAMBURU
A full day in the Shaba or Samburu National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives in search of the reserves rare species such as reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and prides of Maasai lion lounging under large thickets of toothbrush bushes. Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight at your camp/lodge.
DAY 04: SHABA – LAKE NAKURU
After breakfast you depart at 0800 hrs for Lake Nakuru with a stopover at the breathtaking Thompson Falls. You arrive in Lake Nakuru in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive looking for black and white rhino, Rothschild giraffe and herds of Cape buffalo. Dinner & overnight at your camp/lodge.
DAY 05: LAKE NAKURU – MAASAI MARA
Breakfast at 0700hrs with an 0800hrs departure for the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Arrival is in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner & overnight at your camp/lodge.
DAY 06: MAASAI MARA
A full day in the savannah wilderness of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Morning & afternoon game drives searching for cheetah, hippo, lion, elephant, giraffe & topi. Here you have the option of visiting a Maasai Boma that can be arranged by your guide & to be paid direct by guest. Lunch, dinner & overnight at your camp/lodge.
DAY 07: MAASAI MARA – NAIROBI
Breakfast at 0700hrs followed by an 0800 hrs departure for Nairobi arriving at about 1300 hrs. On arrival you are dropped at JKIA airport in time for your outbound flight.
