Mount Kilimanjaro & Kenya Trekking.

Mt. Kenya Trekking

At 5,199 metres Mt Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa. All of the mountain above the 3200 metre contour form the National Park. 
Wildlife within the forests below the park boundary include elephant, buffalo, lion and several species of antelope which can be seen from the safety of the lodge balcony.  
Unique mountain and alpine vegetation with 11 species of endemic plants are also found in this park.

ROUTE ONE

5 DAYS MT KENYA CLIMB – SIRIMON ROUTE UP – DOWN CHOGORIA ROUTE

Day 1: Depart Nairobi at 0730hrs.

The drive gets you to Nanyuki town at about 1100hrs. You take a one hour break before proceeding to Sirimon gate where the trekking starts after a picnic lunch. Trekking from this gate via the forest covers 94Kms to arrive at the  Old Moses camp which is at 3300 mts. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: After breakfast at 0700hrs you depart for Likii North camp.

This is a shorter day but with nice scenery along the way.  At 1200hrs you arrive at camp for lunch. After lunch you have a small walk around the camp to acclimatize. Dinner and overnight

Day 3: After breakfast at 0800hrs you depart for Shipton camp.

Again the distance is not long but wild flowers on the way with nice view of peaks. At 1200hrs you get to Shipton camp which is 4200 mts.Lunch is served. Afternoon at leisure, dinner and overnight

Day 4: On this day you wake up at 0100hrs, wear warm clothing, take tea and biscuits only.

Main breakfast is after summiting point Lenana. At 0200hrs you depart for a 3Kms hike to the summit point Lenana which is 4985 mts. With a good walking pace you arrive on top at 0600hrs in time for sunrise. On a clear day you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro on the Southern side. After photo taking you descend to mintos for main breakfast and later proceed with descend to last camp Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5:

After breakfast at 0600hrs, you depart for another 10kms’ walk via the forest to connect with the vehicle to take you to Chogoria town.

*** On the same route you can decide to have an extra day at Shipton camp for more acclimatization making it a 6 days trip.

ROUTE TWO

5 DAYS MT KENYA TRIP SIRIMON ROUTE UP –  DOWN NAROMORU ROUTE

Day 1: Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp – 3300 mts

Day 3: Likii camp to Shipton camp – 4200 mts

After breakfast at 0800hrs you depart for Shipton camp. Again the distance is not long but with wild flowers on the way and nice view of peaks. At 1200hrs you get to Shipton camp which is 4200mts. Lunch is served. Afternoon at leisure, dinner and overnight

Day 4: Shipton camp –  summit point Lenana- 4985 mts – Mackinders’ camp then to Met station – 3100 mts

On this day you wake up at 0100hrs, wear warm clothings and take tea and biscuits only. Main breakfast is after summiting point Lenana. At 0200hrs you depart for a walk of 3 kms to the summit point Lenana which is 4985 mts. With a good walking pace you arrive on top at 0600hrs in time for sunrise. On a clear day you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro on the Southern side. After photo taking you descend to Mackinders camp 4300 mts for your main breakfast. The descent continues down to last camp Met station – 3100 mts for your last night on the mountain. Overnight at the camp.

Day 5: Met station to Naromoru gate

After breakfast at 0700hrs you walk down via forest covering 10kms to Naromoru gate where you connect with a vehicle for your journey back to Nairobi.

 
ROUTE THREE

5 DAYS MT KENYA NAROMORU ROUTE UP, DOWN SIRIMON ROUTE
  
Day 1: Nairobi to Naromoru gate, then to Met station camp – 3100 mts

You depart for Naromoru gate. This where the trekking starts, walking via forest for 4 hours up to first camp Met station[3100ms].The picnic lunch is served on the way. There are different types of monkeys [baboons and colubus ]. The Elephants, buffaloes, and gazelles are also found in Mt. Kenya’s lower part. Overnight at the camp.

Day 2: Met station Camp to Mackinders camp – 4300 mts

After breakfast at 0630hrs you depart for Mackinders camp[4300ms].The vegetation changes as you go up passing moorland which sometimes is a bit wet. The walk on this day is 11kms. Again the picnic lunch served on the way at picnic rocks. Overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Mackinders camp to summit point Lenana – 4985 mts then to Shipton camp – 4200 mts

Today you wake up at 0100hrs,wear warm clothing, then take tea and biscuits only. Main breakfast is after summiting point Lenana. At 0200hrs you depart for  coverage of 3Kms to the summit point Lenana which is 4985mts. With a good walking pace, you arrive on top at 0600hrs a time for sunrise. On a clear day you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro on the Southern side. After a timely photo taking, you later descend down on a different side Sirimon side, for your main breakfast. Afternoon spent at leisure. Overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Shipton Camp to Old Moses camp – 3300 mts

After breakfast at 0600hrs, you depart for Old Moses camp – 3300mts to arrive at 1400hrs for your lunch. Overnight at the camp.

Day 5:

Old Moses camp to Sirimon gate, then to Nairobi
Wake up at 0600hrs, breakfast then at 0700hrs you depart for Sirimon gate where you connect with your vehicle to Nairobi.
